不难看出,该新闻标题措辞之清新活泼,表达之生动简洁,语义之丰满悠远,皆系于harbor一词,令人玩味。harbor常用作名词,意即“海港”、“港湾”,此处转类为动词,但翻译起来不能过“直”,需作些引申,故该标题似可译成:伊朗窝藏“基地”组织领导人。这种词类替换现象在修辞上称为Enallage(文法替换)——
It is not difficult to see that the wording of the news headlines is fresh and lively, and the expression is vivid and succinct, and the semantics are full and far-reaching, all of which are tied to the word harbour, which is interesting. The harbor is often used as a noun, meaning “harbour” or “bay”. It is used here as a verb, but it cannot be translated “straight” and needs some extensions. So the title seems to be translated into: Iran harbors Al Qaeda leader. This phenomenon of word replacement is rhetorically called Enallage.
