The film “Purple” directed by Steven Spielberg is based on the novel “Purple” by the American woman Alice Walker. Although both are based on the living conditions of African Americans as narrative objects, they all have their own focus. Walker’s novel mainly describes how African American women break the dual oppression of racial discrimination and gender discrimination to establish their independent social status reflects the patriarchal ideology. This article attempts to explore the return of the black status of black men in the movie “Purple” by Spielberg.
