湖北位居华中,人才荟萃,爆破事业十分发达。成立学会,势之使焉。1981年7月学会剪彩。其宗旨是团结同仁,开展学术研究与交流,推动爆破科技发展,向世界先进水平迈进,服务社会,促进经济建设。学会成立以来,召开了四次学术会,交流论文250多篇。其中20多篇获省科协优秀学术论文奖。部份还选送全国或国际学术会交流。草创之初,学会即承担了龟山电视塔基坑开挖的控爆咨询。方量大、工期紧,山下长江大桥车辆日夜穿流,坑内岩壁需要保护,诸多控制要求其严,堪称爆破禁区,学会群策群力,结果使工程以六成费用、三十倍工效,高质安全迅速告竣。因而被誉为建塔头功,深得好评。此举开创了学会咨询服务之先河。此后陆续六十多项,成为学会重要活动之一。咨询服务一则丰富自身经验,二则提高社会声誉,三则筹集活动经费,成为办刊支柱。
