According to statistics from the Urban Construction Department of the Ministry of Construction, there are currently about 1.2 kilograms of domestic waste “produced” by the Chinese people each day, while the amount of waste produced per day per capita in many developed countries has already exceeded 2 kilograms. The problem is that most of the wastes we make have become rubbish and pollute the environment. Developed countries, however, sort and recycle the waste before they become rubbish, and put the waste in the circular economy. Shanghai is one of the most economically developed cities in China and one of the cities with the highest waste and rubbish potential and the largest potential for circular economy. Through Shanghai, we can think of a new way out for the country’s waste economy and environmental protection.
