This article presents the results of a new grading method for finely divided material suspensions. This method is based on the phenomenon that occurs in the ascending liquid layer on a solid surface. Staging effects include moving the solid particles perpendicular to the disk surface due to the steep velocity gradient in the lift layer. The kaolin suspension was tested with a laboratory disk sorter DK-200 and an industrial equipment DK-1000. Put forward the theoretical analysis of the factors that affect the classification results. The industrial development of disc classifiers for the production of kaolin, a coating paper for the paper industry, confirms the conclusion of the qualitative test that the finest graded product is obtained at the highest turntable speed. The DK-1000 classifier is intended for classification in the particle size range of 1 to 100 μm, especially 1 to 20 μm. It has the following advantages: small energy consumption, no noise, stable work, simple structure, not affected by the effect of the suspension wear, and so on.
