学电影的学生们时常在问自己:我能否成为贾樟柯?!——而在数年前这个对象更多的是冯小刚、张艺谋或者陈凯歌。这代表了一种潜移默化的转变,数字光电技术的突飞猛进为拍摄影视作品降低了门槛,也许立刻成为一个大制作的导演是遥远的,但是拿起一台数字摄像机边走边拍却轻松地成为现实。在欧美等国家,利用数字摄像机进行影视创作已趋主流。在国内,像贾樟柯这样的导演从2000年开始一直用数字摄像设备进行创作。“我从2000年就是一个数码摄影者,没有DV很难产生《三峡好人》这样的电影,中国社会的变化那么快,没有数字摄影机就捕捉不到那么多。电影真的是随着技术的发展而发展,而数字摄像机能让镜头和被拍摄人物之间的关系更亲密。”
