How to understand the unity of opposites and opposition between socialism and capitalism and their concrete manifestation in the new democratic society are the main differences between Mao Zedong and Liu Shaoqi’s neo-democratic social thoughts. This article analyzes the differences from the perspective of historical materialism, and ponders on the deep-seated issues, providing references for the economic construction in the primary stage of socialism.
