清朝有个叫叶存仁的官员,雍正年间任知铜知县,乾隆年间任河南巡抚、河东河道。叶氏混迹官场30余年,甘于淡泊,从不苟取,堪称“清廉”。有一次在某官位上离任时,僚属派船送行,大家依依话别,难舍难分。直到夜深人静时,忽见一叶小舟划来,船上载有许多礼品。原来是僚属们临别馈赠,为避人耳目,特地夜里送来。他们以为叶存仁这次肯定会收下。不料叶存仁见状,即令随从备好文房四宝,书诗一首:“月白清风夜半时,扁舟相送故迟迟,感君情重还君赠,不畏人知畏己知。”书毕,将馈赠品原封退了回去。
