Recently, a World Water Forum was held in The Hague, Netherlands, where 3,500 people from all walks of life attended the conference. The same meeting was held at the public and ministerial levels. The main participants in public meetings are non-governmental organizations and privately-owned water companies. Notable is the absence of a state-owned water company to discuss the issues related to water-related environment, access to information, water resources development and water resources management. Government ministers or representatives from 170 countries and regions attended the ministerial meeting.
