Frame Relay is not a new idea anymore, and many network executives have taken notice and accepted the technology. According to a recent survey by the Sage Research Center, some medium-sized companies are preparing or considering frame relay. In fact, 25% of network executives in companies with between 500 and 1,000 employees say they are evaluating the technology. Frame relay users are usually large companies, they want to reduce leased line costs. Now, more and more companies recognize that the cost of frame relay is actually lower than for ISDN or Internet access. Companies looking for faster and more reliable Internet access services will gradually switch to Frame Relay. If Frame Relay is used, the planning process includes evaluating equipment suppliers and transport service providers. While many companies are setting up internal Frame Relay networks, many are looking for providers to provide transport services.
