The seismic response of underwater spherical structures supported on a flexible foundation was studied. When the maximum displacement of the system is found to be minimal, there is an optimal yield displacement. At different shear wave velocities and strain ratios, the optimized yield displacement response spectrum of the optimized system, the corresponding ductility factor and the related lateral force coefficient were obtained. The results indicate that for relatively rigid structures, the soil conditions have the effect of optimizing the yield displacement and the corresponding ductility factor.
