地球是人类居住的天体.地壳的构造是什么?演变的历史和发展趋势又怎样?研究这门科学的学问叫大地构造学.现在,世界上大地构造的学派较多,从不同的角度对地壳作了解释.20多年来,中国科学院学部委员、中南矿冶学院副院长、大地构造研究所所长陈国达教授创立的地洼学说异军突起,对地壳演化的一些解释,已在我国及世界很多地方得到证实,为世界地质学的发展作出了重要贡献.国际地质学界的一些学者认为:地洼学说和板块学说是决定当代地质学发展的两个新学说.
