Attachment theory extends from the field of developmental psychology to many other aspects, providing a broader and far-reaching perspective for the study of human social functions [1]. As the core concept of attachment theory, the internal work model integrates the components of cognition and emotion and can influence the expectation, strategy and behavior of individuals in interpersonal communication [2]. Stroke is a disease with a high morbidity and disability, with about 75% of survivors having a stroke after stroke [3]. According to the attachment theory, when people are stimulated by stress, such as fatigue, illness and other conditions, people’s attachment system will be activated, and affect many people’s behavior [2]. In the past on the type of stroke patients attachment research has not been reported in China. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to explore the characteristics of attachment types of stroke patients under stress state, starting from the internal working model of attachment theory, and lay the foundation for clinical psychological nursing.
