由邹为诚等编写的《综合英语教程》第五、六册一改传统高级英语教材以阅读欣赏为主旨的编写体系,引进、开发了教—学—研的课程模式。通过大量优质ESL化的输入信息,真实性强的ESL输出任务和向使用者提供再创作空间,该教材成功地在EFL课堂里创造了ESL软环境;不仅为全面提升高年级学生目标语言的使用能力和批评性思维及研究能力提供了一套很好的教材,也为EFL教材的ESL化提供了样板。
