CLINICAL REPORT OF DRINKING INTERVENTION ON 310 CASES WITH AURICULO-ACUPUNCTURE

Auriculo-acupuncture was tried on 310 patientsas an intervention therapy to stop drinking.Thepatients were all chronic alcoholics,consuming notless than 400g of spirits daily.They were dividedinto three groups according to their attitude towardthe cessation.The results were best with those whovolunteered to give up drinking and least in thosewho were forced to quit.The results were:totalcessation 77%,improved,12% and failure,11%.Itis considered that the decision to quit is of primeImportance,nevertheless auriculo-acupuncturetherapy is a valuable aid in treating alcoholism,withthe particular merit of being extremely convenientand economical to administer.
