《大学英语教学大纲》(以下简称《大纲》)指出:“语言教学的最终目标是培养学生以书面或口头方式进行交际的能力,因此,在教学过程中既要传授必要的语言知识,也要引导学生运用所学的语言知识和技能进行广泛的阅读和其他语言交际活动。”换言之,《大纲》把传授语言知识和培养交际能力视为一个整体。前者是后者的必要条件和重要组成部分;后者是预期达到的目的。本文仅就如何通过传授文化背景知识来促进实现这一目的谈几点体会。
The Syllabus for College English Syllabus states: “The ultimate goal of language teaching is to develop the ability of students to communicate in writing or verbally. Therefore, it is necessary to impart the necessary linguistic knowledge in the teaching process as well as Guide students in using their language knowledge and skills for a wide range of reading and other language communication activities. ”In other words, the Outline considers teaching language knowledge and developing communicative competence as a whole. The former is a necessary condition and an important part of the latter; the latter is the intended purpose. This article only talks about how to promote this by teaching cultural background.
