荣毅仁的父亲荣德生是中国现代史上著名的民族资本家、知名的爱国人士。荣毅仁早年留学美国,回国后协助父亲管理荣氏企业。1949年,共产党执政前夕,当上海的一些资本家和荣家的子弟纷纷出走时,荣毅仁却把已在香港的妻子儿女接回上海,毅然留在中国内地。在1957年上海市第二届人民代表大会上,陈毅市长提议选举了荣毅仁为副市长。1959年荣毅仁调任中央人民政府纺织工业部副部长。
Rong Yiren’s father, Rong Desheng, is a famous national capitalist and famous patriot in China’s modern history. Rong Yiren studied in the United States early years, after returning to help his father to manage Wing enterprises. In 1949, on the eve of the Communist Party’s reign, when some of the capitalists in Shanghai and the children of the Rong family went away, Rong Yiren took the wife and children already in Hong Kong back to Shanghai and decided to stay in mainland China. At the Second Shanghai People’s Congress in 1957, Mayor Chen Yi proposed the election of Rong Yiren as deputy mayor. 1959 Rong Yi Ren transferred to the Central People’s Government Deputy Minister of Textile Industry.
