毛泽东一贯重视党的基层组织建设。他较早提出“支部建在连上”的观点，为党在军队的基层建设找到了落脚点；他关于“大胆发展而不让一个坏分子侵入”的思想，为党的组织发展确立了正确的方针；他提出“大量吸收知识分子”入党的主张，对落实党的知识分子政策，提高党的素质和战斗力起了重要作用；他高度重视党的基层建设，提出党的中心工作必须依靠党的基层组织来实现。毛泽东关于党的基层建设的思想在社会主义现代化建设中仍然具有积极的现实意义。
