在“上善若水,厚德载物”这八个字中,前四个字摘自老子的《道德经》,后四个字源自《易经》。从逻辑上看,后四个字是对前四个字的诠释、延伸、补正。其前后四个字之合一,则表现了崇善重德的价值追求。在此,之所以要简释“上善若水,厚德载物”这八字,缘于目前财政部正在全国财政系统倡导开展的“财政精神”提炼活动。我认为“上善若水,厚德载物”这八字所体现出来的崇善重德价值追求正是财政精神之贴切映现。“上善若水”语出《老子》“上善若水,水善利万物而不争”之句,其意为
Among the eight characters of “goodness, goodness and virtue”, the first four characters are taken from Lao Tzu’s moral scriptures and the last four characters are derived from the Book of Changes.
