The economic burden of malaria cases is divided into direct costs, overhead costs and intangible costs. The study found that the average financial burden per malaria case was 792.4 yuan, of which the largest proportion accounted for more than 50% of the total invisible costs, indicating that malaria has caused great suffering to patients and their families. Direct costs, which represent 10.5% of annual household income, may not have too much economic impact on families. Lack of time due to illness was significantly higher than the normal course of malaria, indicating that there may be delayed diagnosis and treatment of malaria in the process of diagnosis and treatment.
