This study uses a network ethnographic approach to study the playfulness of multilingualism among English-language film fans in Chinese social media. By analyzing the language practice embodied in the interaction among fans, the web posting and the cultural products of fans, the research shows that the practice of playful discourse in which fans use multiple linguistic symbolic resources is a kind of “superhuman behavior ”. Drawing on philosophical and cultural studies on theoretical discussion of games, I try to categorize fan hyperfunctions into three categories: creative destruction, competition for something, expression of a role or identity. On this basis, the article uses the theory of fan culture economics to demonstrate how fans constructed through the practice of hyper-language do not completely depend on the multiple identities of official cultures, and pointed out that this kind of super-language practice is to reflect, remodel and enrich the official culture Some of the values offered new possibilities.
