The effective pressure P_c for determining the liquid permeability can be expressed as (P_c_SP_p), where P_c is the confining pressure, P_p is the pore pressure, and S is a coefficient that depends on the shape of the fracture face and the rock type. The measurement of the liquid flow through cracks simulated by Kranz et al. shows that S can vary from 0.5 to 1.0. This paper holds that ~(1/3) should have a linear relationship with lnp_c. From the data studied by Carranth et al., Brar and Stesky, and Jones et al., they all follow this theoretical relationship. Overview
