无锡市郊区离休干部王旭同志,看到刘潭中学四千余名师生没有操场,附近居民也没有锻炼身体的场所,于是,他就将自己平时节省的万元存款,捐给刘潭中学修建田径场。一花引来百花开,他的这一举动,立即得到了市教育局、郊区教育局、郊区体委和一些企业的响应,也纷纷捐资,一时竟达14万元之多。于是,无锡市郊区的第二个标准田径场就在刘潭中学建成了。
