《翻切指掌空谷傳聲》是清代末年江西南豐人士編撰的一部以反映官話語音爲宗旨的韻圖。編者宗侄劉孚周以旁注的形式比較了韻圖“官話”音與南豐“土語”的異同,并增列了部分切字。這些旁注内容、增列的切字以及原本韻圖透露了百年前江西南豐方言的語音特徵。劉孚周旁注“官話讀”的原因,也能通過韻書内容與現代南豐方言的相互比較得到合理解釋,并能由此清晰勾勒出清末南豐方言聲母、韻母、聲調三方面的語音特徵。
“Turn the palm of your hand” is a rhyme map compiled by people in Nanfeng in Jiangxi in the late Qing dynasty to reflect the voice of the government. The compilation of his nephew Liu Fu Zhou in the form of a pamphlet compares the similarities and differences between the rhyme map “Mandarin” and Nan Fung “Tuyu ” and adds some cut words. The contents of these marginal notes, addition of cut words and the original rhyme map reveal the phonetic features of a hundred years ago in Jiangxi Nanfeng dialect. The reason why Liu Fu wrote “Mandarin Reading” beside his weekly notes can also be reasonably explained by the comparison between the content of the rhyme book and the modern Nanfeng dialect, and can thus clearly outline the pronunciation of the initials, finals and vowels of the Nanfeng dialect in the late Qing dynasty feature.
