For years, astronomers struggledto calculate the age of the universe.Estimates ranged from 10 to 20billion years old, a frustratingly largespread. But that was before thelaunch of the Hubble SpaceTelescope, named after theastronomer whose discovery 70years ago began the quest to learnthe universe’s age. Edwin Hubble found that thegalaxies within the universe arespeeding away from each other at arate proportional to their distance.
