谷坊群坝是防治泥石流的一项重要工程措施。在泥石流形成区的坡脚及地质情况不良的泥石流流通区布置谷坊群坝,能稳定坡脚和沟床,从而对泥石流形成区的发展起到控制作用,以防止泥石流的发生。其工程效益以我矿乌石岭北沟采用谷坊群坝治理泥石流的效果便可说明。
