二十世纪初,广州盛行的画风除广为人知的居廉、居巢一支外,何丹山的画作亦相当受欢迎。何翀的画作在民间流传很广,但并没在纷纭的画史上留下显赫的名声和深刻的足迹。本文根据画作信息和史料记载,钩沉了当时何翀的交游圈,发现他与达官、贵人、文士、墨客均有交往,且对他的绘画生涯发生了重要的影响。何翀的交游状况可以说明在清末嘉道至民国年间,社会之变催生了一个绘画群体,一群鬻画为生的画家在共同的生活圈和交际圈中相互砥砺、影响,进而形成了岭南本土的绘画风格。
