Objective To analyze the surveillance results of the incidence of syphilis in Zhoushan Island, Zhejiang Province from 2004 to 2007. Methods Statistical analysis of the monitoring data using descriptive epidemiological methods. Results A total of 3818 syphilis cases were reported in Zhoushan Island from 2004 to 2007, of which 30.17% were in stage Ⅰ, 22.86% in stage Ⅱ, 0.37% in stage Ⅲ, 4.92% in fetal stage and 41.67% in recessive stage. The annual average incidence of syphilis was 98.62 / 100000, the annual average rate of increase in four years was 19.84%, of which the average annual growth rate of latent syphilis was 47.65%. The incidence of syphilis in island areas is higher than that of males, with a case-to-case ratio of 1: 0.87. The incidence of syphilis in island areas is mainly in the three age groups of “20-29”, “30-39”, “40-49” Accounting for 75.72% of the total reported cases, of which the highest is 28.05% for males and the highest for females is 34.48% for segments “20-29”. Age (Ⅰ, Ⅱ) and latent syphilis cases age distribution, the peak age of women than men over 10 years of age, including latent syphilis between 20-year-old gender difference. Syphilis occupational occupational composition, with household (political) and unemployed up to 41.27%, followed by 14.60% of fishing (boat) people, especially tactile syphilis in the fisheries (boat) people accounted for 22.12%, a potential threat to the spread of syphilis. Conclusion The prevalence of syphilis has become a serious public health problem, and it is urgent to adopt comprehensive prevention and control measures to curb the sharp rise.
