《世说新语》成书时代属于中古汉语的典型期,而且多为当时口语实录,非常接近魏晋时代语言的真实面貌,在反映时代语言的典型性方面,《世说新语》有其不可多得的重要价值。两部词典都具有较高的学术价值,是《世说新语》专书研究的产物,反过来必将大大推动《世说新语》的语言研究。两部词典不仅为深入全面地研究《世说新语》扫除词汇障碍,也为中古汉语词汇研究提供了翔实可靠的资料,更给汉语词汇研究带来了很大的便利。我们可以将两部词典交互为用,从二者的异同发现问题,以达到对中古汉语词汇面貌有更深层次的了解。
