IRIS(即意大利研制的临时级)航天发动机,是意大利国家航天规划局的研制项目。它可把600-950公斤的有效载荷从航天飞机的低轨道(300公里)送入同步转移轨道(远地点36000公里),是为了进一步完善美国航天飞机的上面级系统(SSUS,IUS,Centaur)而研制的。IRIS 计划负责人估计,有可能用 IRIS 把15—20个有效载荷从美国航天飞机上送入轨道。此外,欧州阿里安运载火箭系列的3和4已预定用 IRIS 作为火箭的第4级。
IRIS (ie Italy-developed temporary class) spacecraft, the Italian National Space Planning Agency’s development project. It delivers 600-950 kg of payload from the space shuttle’s low orbit (300 km) into the synchrotron orbit (36,000 km apogee) to further refine the U.S. space shuttle’s upper-class system (SSUS, IUS, Centaur) while Developed. The head of the IRIS program estimates that it is possible to put 15-20 payloads on board the U.S. space shuttle using the IRIS. In addition, the European Arianes 3 and 4 launch rocket series is scheduled to use IRIS as the rocket’s 4th level.
