Two-Phase Flow in the Inlet Pipe The engine generates steam in two ways when the pump inlet pipe is warm: one is liquid hydrogen before it enters the pump, and a part of liquid hydrogen due to heat transfer from the inlet pipe Evaporation; and second, cavitation in the low pressure zone in the pump flowpath causes evaporation of a portion of the liquid hydrogen in the pump. In this study, the amount of steam generated by cavitation can be neglected as long as the flow coefficient at pump operation is close to the design value. The two-phase flow test results for the Mark15 liquid hydrogen pump and the Mark25 pump demonstrate that as long as the liquid flow coefficient is not
