The international conference to be held in the city of Sant’Antonio, in the State of Conover, USA, from 6 to 12 August 1988, was an unprecedented conference of these societies in this century. Nearly 3700 people attended the conference from 55 countries and regions. The conference received 1,950 papers, of which 1,609 were published in Volume 33 of Medical Biophysics. Many scholars are responding to the theme of the conference in preparation for the year 2000 challenge. Many global issues will be successfully solved through world exchange efforts for the benefit of humankind on Earth. It is with such lofty goals that world scholars gathered in the United States and the texts. Chinese scholars with a new style among the forum of the International Biomedical Engineering Conference, had a good impact. This time, scholars in China sent 118 papers to mainland conferences for their admission to international conferences, and 17 to Taipei, accounting for almost one eleventh of the number of papers in this international conference.
