今年是爱尔兰作家、诺贝尔文学奖获得者萧伯纳访问上海七十周年。萧伯纳1933年2月17日访问上海时,曾与宋庆龄、蔡元培、鲁迅等结识并有着亲密的交往。鲁迅与瞿秋白还曾编辑出版了《萧伯纳在上海》一书,影响深远。为了纪念萧伯纳访沪七十周年,爱尔兰驻上海总领事馆在上海发起组织了系列纪念活动,4月24日又在上海鲁迅纪念馆举行了爱尔兰作家与上海作家交流座谈会。鲁迅与萧伯纳这两位文化巨人间历史性的会见,以及他们之间思想与文学创作的比较研究等问题,是一个非常有意义的、值得深入研究的话题。
This year is an Irish writer and George Bernard Shaw, the Nobel Prize laureate, visited Shanghai for the seventieth anniversary. During his visit to Shanghai on February 17, 1933, Bernard Shaw had known and had close contacts with Soong Ching Ling, Cai Yuanpei and Lu Xun. Lu Xun and Qu Qiubai also edited and published “George Bernard Shaw in Shanghai,” a book, far-reaching impact. In honor of George Bernard Shaw’s 70th anniversary in Shanghai, the Irish Consulate General in Shanghai initiated a series of commemorative activities in Shanghai. On April 24, another informal discussion was held between Irish writers and Shanghai writers at the Shanghai Lu Xun Memorial Hall. The historic meetings between the two cultural giants, Lu Xun and George Bernard Shaw, as well as the comparative study of their thoughts and literary creations, are of great significance and worthy of further study.
