本刊编委、中央民族学院民族语文三系系主任兼语言研究所所长戴庆厦教授应柏克莱加州大学语言学系之邀,于1989年10月10日至11月20日赴美进行学术访问。10月30日上午在柏克莱加州大学与著名语言学家马提索夫教授就藏缅语的研究和发展问题进行了内容广泛的对话,马提索夫发表了坦诚的看法,谈了许多他的治学经验与新方法,不仅对藏缅语研究的宏观规划有推动作用,而且对汉藏语系其他语族的研究也不无参考价值。柏克莱加州大学语言学系孙天心先生在这次访问中担任翻译并协助整理材料。征得戴庆厦教授的同意,特在本刊发表,以飨读者。
