上海“大世界”始建于1917年,至今已有百岁高龄。它以游艺杂耍和南北戏曲、曲艺为特色,曾经是旧上海最吸引人的娱乐场所,被誉为中国文化的“东方之门”。里面设有许多小型戏台,轮番表演各种戏曲、曲艺、歌舞和游艺杂耍等,中间有露天的空中环游飞船,还设有电影院、商场、小吃摊和中西餐馆。大世界的12面哈哈镜,更是红极一时,承载了几代上海人童年的记忆。“不到大世界,枉来大上海。”上世纪流传在游客当中的一句话,足见“大世界”在当时的独特魅力。
