The fluorescence spectra, excitation spectra, and fluorescence lifetime of 9-methylanthracene and its dimers and their low temperature photolysis products (sandwich bread pairs) on a silica gel surface were studied. A complex was formed of dimeric 9-methylanthracene, trichloromethane and silica activated silica under vacuum at 700 ° C. The complex has different characteristics of monomer and dimer excitation and emission spectra, low temperature light easily decomposed. When the decomposition products are slowly warmed to room temperature, the complex is almost completely reproducible. The dimer low temperature photolysis products, sandwich bread pair, when completely warmed to room temperature, become completely anthracene.
