在我所接触的东北汉子中,继民可以说是惟一沉默多于侃侃长谈的人,一语既出,字字千斤,真可谓是“稀”“贵”两得。尔后又读其画,所谓“画如其人”,操觚弄翰,不急不躁,从从容容,读完留给人既繁杂,也丰富的印象。他喜欢美与一切与美有关的人和事,他的作品以唯美的观点统率画面,他用丰富的色彩、重复的水墨去强化他自身的形象塑造,他对寥若晨星的美术界真正探索生命底蕴者的尊崇和对趋之若鹜的不屑。我曾一度认为中国人物绘画若用以表现唯美理想无疑流于甜俗。但了解了今日艺术之现状后,觉得艺术的争奇斗妍,若没有唯美的存在,不会懂得丑陋和难堪(这种丑陋绝非拙朴),也就没有“美”术可

For a time, I once thought that if the Chinese figure painting is used to express the aesthetic ideal, it undoubtedly flows into the sweet and vulgar. However, after understanding the status quo of today’s art, I feel that there is no “beauty” in the art. If there is no aesthetic existence, I will not understand ugliness and embarrassment.
