Experiments have demonstrated that the bone induction of decalcified bone meal (DBP) decreases with age in recipient rats. To do this, the ages of donor and recipient rats were varied and histological grade was used to determine the formation of cartilage and bone. The experimental results are consistent with the previous reports, but at the same time, it was found that DBP prepared from the older rats had stronger osteoinductive effect than DBP from the young rats, which was contrary to the experimental results of Syftestad and Urist.
