沙障的种类很多,在群众性大面积治沙造林中应用的主要是材料容易解决、工本较低的各种沙障。我站在民勤沙区试验成功的粘土沙障,因具上述特点,群众喜欢采用。民勤大面积的营造梭梭固沙林,大都先设置这种沙障。这种沙障,是由在沙面上堆设成一道道的小土埂所组成,它的拦阻流沙作用不大,但固沙性能很好,保障栽植固沙林木的成活生长,比一般沙障优越,适于有粘性土的沙漠地区固沙造林采用。
