板胡音色清脆、明亮,尤其擅长表现高亢,激昂、热烈和火爆的情绪,同时也具备优美和细腻的特点,是我国传统乐器中极具地方色彩和风格的一种拉弦乐器,常用于地方性民歌以及戏曲的伴奏中,流行于东北、华北、西北各地区。在板胡的演奏中,滑音、泛音、揉弦、拨弦、跳弓、垫弓等多种技法都为其增添了许多色彩。在秦腔、评剧、豫剧等梆子戏的伴奏中常常见到板胡的身影,戏曲与板胡有着源远流长的关系,而不管是戏曲还是其它形式的音乐表达都要依托于一定水平的演奏技巧,板胡所表达的艺术内涵与演奏技术是相辅相成、不可分割的。
