白沙蒿又称籽蒿(Artemisia Sphaerocephala Krasch.),属于菊科蒿属的半灌木植物。白沙蒿生长在草原和荒漠草原地带,在流沙地区均有大量的分布,有深长的主根,同时具有发达的水平发展的侧根。地上部分割取可作沙障,用作薪炭材料,也可用作绿肥,又是流动沙丘荒漠草场主要的植物组成之一。种子磨粉掺于面中可食,种子捣烂可作涂料,但其最大的价值是榨油,因油的碘值较高,多用于工业用油,去色除味后可供食用。适宜于流动沙地生长,是我国草原和荒漠草原地带固沙的优良植物之一。
