保8824—17是河北省保定市农业科学研究所选育而成的,1999年3月通过河北省农作物品种审定委员会审定。该品种株型直立、紧凑,抗倒力强,耐涝、耐病、耐盐碱,叶色浓绿,早熟,品质优良,符合出口标准;适合中高水肥地夏播,可在河北省红小豆产区广泛种植,其他红小豆产区也可引种、试种。
