1779年,德国哲学家康德计划到一个名叫珀芬的小镇去拜访朋友威廉·彼特斯。动身前,他曾写信给彼特斯,说3月2日上午11点前到他家。康德是3月1日到达珀芬的,第二天一早便租了一辆马车前往彼特斯家。彼特斯家住在离小镇19公里远的一个农场里,小镇和农场之间隔了一条河,当马车来到河边时,车夫发现桥坏了。康德下车看了看桥,发现中间已经断裂。河虽然不宽,但水很深且结了薄冰。
In 1779, the German philosopher Kant planned to visit friend Pepe Peters in a small town called Perfen. Prior to his departure, he wrote to Petes and said he came to his house before 11 am on March 2. Kant arrived in Purfen on March 1, and the next morning he rented a carriage to Peters House. Peters lives in a farm about 19 kilometers from the town. There is a river between the town and the farm. When the carriage arrives at the river, the driver discovers that the bridge is broken. Kant got off and looked at the bridge, found in the middle has been broken. Although the river is not wide, but the water is deep and the end of thin ice.
