At present, the U.S. economy is still in a recession. Many famous multinational corporations, such as IMB, Kodak, and Westinghouse, are busy with streamlined layoffs due to shrinking production. But on the other hand, there are hundreds of medium-sized companies that have demonstrated their skills in overseas markets. Their production and sales are flourishing, attracting attention. They are often referred to as “little giants” in the American business community. These midsize companies have become the hope for the U.S. to increase employment opportunities and maintain its competitiveness in the international market. Although economic growth in Europe and Japan slowed down last year, US exports continued to grow, mainly because these midsize companies had excellent performance in overseas markets. These midsize companies usually focus on operating a single profitable product, and set up factories, research institutes, and sales offices around the world. Because their turnover is mostly between 200 million and 1 billion U.S. dollars, compared with the large-scale large multinational companies, it is still very small, so it is often unknown to the world.
