刘秀,就是东汉开国的光武帝,说他不会用人,也许是冤枉的。在王莽篡汉之后的全国大混战中,刘秀正因为会用人,才能从一个“无兵司令”(玄汉朝廷的大司马),变成勇将如云、谋臣如雨的实力派,击败各方割据势力,统一全中国。“推心置腹”(推赤心置人腹中)的成语,也正是由他而起的。然而,刘秀有一个大失误,也恰恰是用人问题。他手下有个平狄将军叫庞萌,一向恭谨谦逊,刘秀对他非常信任。《论语》一句话说:
