Interviewee: Jessica (Australia) When I was in high school, I wrote a poem about the impact of Australian colonial rule on indigenous peoples. I read it to a friend who posted it on our local library so everyone could see it. Some people totally do not believe this poem comes from a non-indigenous hand. Later I cast it for an international competition, which was exactly the centennial celebration of the federal government. As expected, I did not win a prize. Decades have passed, our society has not changed, it is full of dark rules and the set expectations of what we should do to become human beings, along the way
