Generally believed that human corneal endothelial regeneration is very low, the damage can only rely on the surrounding cell migration, extension and healing. However, the authors encountered two cases of corneal edema and opacity caused by the misuse of 0.25% acetic acid (pH3) in cataract surgery, but returned to transparency within 1 to 30 days. In order to clarify the mechanism, the authors selected the same kind of cats with human corneal endothelial regeneration similar to the experiment to understand the role of acetic acid on the corneal endothelium and corneal re-transparent reasons.
