水泥混凝土路面到达其使用年限,或者其他原因破坏,需要重建时,现在的一般做法是挖除并废弃旧的水泥混凝土面层,修补基层后,重新进行铺筑。破除的旧混凝土往往作为建筑垃圾被丢弃,这样就引发了许多问题,如废料丢弃带来的问题;新建道路所需材料的开采带来的环境问题;以及运输和处理废料带来巨大的经济浪费,粗集料的开采和运输带来巨大的人力和物力浪费,导致总体经济效益和社会效益下降等等。
