思想、理论对于人,对于一个国家、一个民族意味着什么?法国思想家帕斯卡尔及恩格斯做了如下的回答:“思想成就了伟大的人,人类的全部尊严就在于思想。”“一个民族要想站在科学的最高峰,就一刻也离不开理论思维。”实践一再证明,理论的正向作用和反向作用都是巨大的。同一个国家、同一个民族,错误的理论可以把它推向地狱,正确的理论则可以把它引向天堂。在亟需理论思维的当下,学术理论研究既有“万象”之象,也有“乱象”之象。《人民论坛》杂志2012年8月号就开辟专栏,声讨“思想泡沫”。课题组在按语中说:“‘思想泡沫’主要是指没有价值的各类言论、观点、学术成果等”。
