多年来,李戈晔一直在探索绘画的本质,寻找一种可以抒发胸中块垒的载体,试验最贴切的表达方式。她总是追问:“绘画中的真实是什么?画一些景物,画一些人像,就是真实吗?那么我们原初的绘画动机在那里?要表达,要呈现,它是一种精神需要和生理需求。”在她看来,绘画的过程是一个不断寻找真实的过程,是自我呈现、自我认识的过程。于是李戈晔发现,认识自己,直面内心的全部真实,即是画者的“真实”。在对内心真实的挖掘中,李戈晔找到了水这一载体。她说:
Over the years, Li Ge Ye has been exploring the essence of painting, looking for a carrier that can express the heart of the block, the most appropriate way to test the expression. She always asks: “What is the real thing about painting? What about painting some scenery and drawing some portraits? Is our original painting motivation there? To express, to present, it is a spiritual need and a physiological need . ”In her view, the process of painting is a continuous process of searching for truth, self-presenting and self-understanding. So Li Geye found that knowing yourself, facing all the truth of the heart, is the artist’s “real”. In the real excavation of the heart, Li Ge Ye found the carrier of water. she says:
